About

Research with purpose

I'm a UX Researcher who conducts research across the university's current student experience — conducting field studies, co-design sessions, accessibility audits, and large-scale usability testing to make digital experiences genuinely work for every student.

My background is a little unusual. I came up through copywriting, content, SEO, marketing management, and data analytics before landing in UX — and that breadth is a genuine asset. I can read a GA4 dashboard, write a screener, run a card sort, and hand off a Figma prototype. I understand the full system that surrounds a design decision.

Accessibility isn't a checkbox for me. It's the lens I bring to every brief. I care particularly about equity — making sure research includes regional, remote, and non-metro cohorts who are often the most underserved by digital systems.

01

Research before assumptions

I build the evidence base first. Stakeholder instinct has a place, but users tell you what you don't expect.

02

Accessibility as a design constraint

WCAG standards aren't a post-launch audit. They're part of how I frame problems from day one.

03

Mixed methods, always

Quantitative data tells me what's happening. Qualitative research tells me why. I need both to make confident recommendations.

04

Research that reaches people

Findings that never leave a Confluence page aren't findings. I communicate insights in a way that actually changes decisions.

Selected projects

A selection of research-led projects — from large-scale student portal redesigns to accessibility audits and performance research in regional WA.

Accessibility WCAG audit

Accessibility & heuristic audits

Structured reviews of OASIS components against WCAG 2.2 AA standards and Nielsen's heuristics — identifying critical barriers and informing accessible design decisions across the portal.

Ia
IA research Navigation

Navigation IA + labelling research

Multiple rounds of card sorts, tree tests, and dot-voting activities across metro and regional campuses to surface student mental models and improve menu structure and page titles.

Analytics Dashboards

Student engagement analytics

Built Looker Studio and Power BI dashboards to visualise student engagement and feedback trends, combining GA4 data with survey results to surface usability blockers for design and product teams.

Expertise

What I bring

User research

Qualitative and quantitative research methods — from field studies and co-design to large-scale surveys. I recruit, facilitate, and synthesise.

Interviews Card sorts Tree tests Co-design Surveys

Usability testing

Moderated and unmoderated task-based testing, SEQ scoring, and iterative prototype validation. I track task success, time-on-task, and satisfaction.

Accessibility

Structured audits against WCAG 2.2 AA standards. I understand both the technical constraints and the human cost of inaccessible design.

Data & analytics

Turning behavioural data into design insight. I work across GA4, Tag Manager, Looker Studio, and Power BI to surface what the numbers are really saying.

Information architecture

Structuring content systems that match how users actually think. Navigation design, labelling strategy, and IA validation with real participants.

Technical fluency

Enough HTML, CSS/SCSS, JS, and WordPress/ACF to be dangerous in a dev conversation. I can review implementations, not just hand off specs.

Experience

Where I've worked

Seven-plus years across startups, agencies, and a large institution — spanning copywriting, SEO, marketing, data analytics, and now UX. That breadth isn't a liability; it's how I understand the systems that UX sits inside.
